Dental crowns fit over decayed or damaged teeth above the gum line, helping to restore strength, appearance and shape. Crowns can be used cosmetically to help improve the appearance of severely discolored teeth. There are multi material options available, ranging from metal, porcelain-fused-to-metal, resin or ceramic.
We only use the highest grade dental crown materials, ensuring you get the best possible results with long lasting benefits. Using cheaper ineffective materials can cause pain and functionality issues in the future.
Dental crowns are a popular choice to save a decayed or damaged tooth/teeth. They allow patients to avoid extractions whilst restoring the strength and visual look of the tooth. Our dentists can make your crowns look exactly like your natural teeth.
NHS dental crowns are made from cheaper materials which can often lead a darkened line at the top of the crown. At Worsley Dental Centre we use premium crown technology so that they look and react like your natural teeth. No one will be able to tell that you have a dental crown.
Crowns often get a bad rep due to the appearance and fit. Private crowns are another level on both counts. They fit and perform like your natural teeth, even the light reflects off your gum line the same as your natural teeth. The key benefits after treatment are:
Consultation - Your dentist will carry out a full dental examination on the tooth that needs a crown, this could include x-rays. Your dentist will take a mould of your tooth or mouth during this stage.
Procedure - Your dentist will file down the tooth in preparation for the crown fitting. A temporary crown will be applied to protect the tooth. Your impressions will be sent to the lab to create the permanent crown.
Fitting - Once your new crown is back from the lab, you’ll return for a second visit where your dentist will remove the temporary crown and cement to permanent crown. Crowns last up to 10 - 15 years.
